Item Description

This piece is from a new find (2023) in Indonesia. It's a gorgeous and unique specimen of something that is unlike anything we've seen before. We don't even have a specific locality, our source couldn't even tell us specifically where it was from, only that it was brand new and one of the local diggers brought it to the marketplace for sale. The piece features multiple generations of deposition, starting earliest with leaves of Native Copper with minor matrix, which were then coated by beautiful turquoise blue Chrysocolla, and finally with a layer of snow white Quartz. Some of these formations are actually hollow, meaning that the Chrysocolla and Quartz have formed hollow "casts" after Copper that was presumably dissolved away, but still remains in other places on the specimen. I'm not going to say this is a pseudomorph, it really looks more like a "cast" where the original shape of the preexisting mineral is preserved in a form of a hollow cavity that was created by the deposition of another mineral. It's a really interesting specimen, and certainly different, so don't miss out on the chance to get your hands on something unique and new with beautiful color, form and aesthetics. I don't know if there will be more of these, and sometimes these kinds of discoveries can be very short-lived, though sometimes they produce specimens for many years.
