Quartz (4-ray Star)

Star gems are not terribly common in the world, and despite the vast number of Quartz gems in the world, very few of them have stars present. This star effect is called asterism in the gem world, and it occurs when small inclusions of one mineral are reflected inside of the host gem. This Star Quartz stone has a pale golden hue, and is translucent for all intents and purposes. It has a high domed "Round Cabochon" cut and under strong lighting shows a faint 4-ray star. The star is somewhat sharp when you get the correct lighting on there. This is still a rarity for Quartz and a worthwhile pickup for any fan of unusual / esoteric gemstones. Enjoy.
