Item Description
The sandstone deposits of the Corinto area of Minas Gerais are well-known for producing fine quartz specimens and this large specimen certainly qualifies. An impressive 11.8 cm crystal dominates this sculptural piece. The sharp termination is stunningly limpid and the aesthetic cluster of smaller glassy, lustrous, transparent to translucent crystals, to 9.3 cm, at the base are an artistic complement. Essentially pristine, with only a super trivial bruise to the tip of the large crystal. These fine crystals are similar in appearance to those produced from the sandstone deposits in the Hot Springs area of Arkansas. Ex John Dagenais Collection, a well-known Canadian collector. Classic and excellent Brazilian quartz from Corinto. Old material!
