Item Description

A surprise from this particular region, this is a robust, glassy transparent Quartz crystal from the Atlas Mountains of Morocco, a rare find for the area, and it was fortunately preserved due to the collecting efforts of Dr. Erika Pohl-Strahler. It is gemmy and sharply formed and exhibits a faint smoky hue. The upper two-thirds of the crystal are limpid and the lower portion is cloudy in places due to microscopic fluid inclusions. The edges and termination are near-perfect save a tiny ding on one of the top edges (razor sharp, as we know from handling it!). There is a flattened, 6 cm Quartz crystal attached to one side and another 2 cm Quartz crystal on the backside. The base of the crystal is etched where it was separated from the pocket and then recrystallized. It is a dramatic and handsome Quartz crystal. 525 grams - hefty!
