Pyrrhotite on Magnesite (old classic)

When you see a pyrrhotite these days, you pretty much assume it is from Russia or Mexico. But this is an old and rare in this large style Brazilian one from a famous working gold mine believe it or not. The striking cluster of blocky, hexagonal crystals has typical layering, classic bronzey luster and a nifty scattered, lightly iridescent rust-red tint. The cluster is very jaunitly set on a stalk of magnesite rhombs and looks like a striking brassy corsage! This is exceptionally rare, old material and seldom seen on the market. Valued $400-500.
