Item Description

Dal'negorsk has definitely become one of the premier contemporary specimen producing localities around. The area has managed to produce amazing quality sulfides and the crystallized Pyrrhotites are the best from the modern era, and they simply do not receive the appreciation they deserve. The piece is sharp, lustrous, brassy metallic group of pseudo-hexagonal Pyrrhotite on golden Chalcopyrite. Great quality, and fairly large for the locality. There is a broad Chalcopyrite crystal in the center of the piece (not easy to see in the photo) that measures 4.7 cm across. This is definitely an older specimen, early 1990s. Great quality, despite a bit of edge wear, and better than most I've offered recently. From an old East Coast collection, with dealer labels from Larry Conklin and Collector's Edge, who originally priced it at $1200.
