Pyrrhotite (Large 1.7 kilo crystal !)

Item Description

This is a HUGE cluster of bronze-colored Pyrrhotite with exceptionally large crystals. It looks like there are at least five major pseudohexagonal crystals in slightly separated, near parallel growth that create a very attractive geometric sculpture. One of the larger crystals in the front measures nearly three inches across. There are small, low-profile, hexagon-shaped growth hillocks on the faces and the edges of the crystals are striated. One seldom sees Pyrrhotite crystals of this size, from any locality; and from Russia large crystals tend to be more like stepped mounds than discretely crystallized in the stereotypic form, as with this specimen. This is an important Russian Pyrrhotite from the heyday of the 1980s, ex Herb Obodda old dealer stock. It is 1.7 kilos ! How do you even begin to value such a monster!
