Fabulous variable iridescence on these striking intergrown clusters of stacked sharp hexagonal pyrrhotite crystals from the famous Nikolaevskiy Mine at Dalnegorsk. A very important, large, showy specimen with character! The impressive and sculptural large mounded multi-sided piece is dramatically dominated by the large robust crystal cluster at the crest at 7.3 x 5.2 x 4.3 cm. The polymetallic skarn deposits at Dalnegorsk produced world-class specimens of sulfides, fluorite, calcite and boron minerals in the 1990s to 2000s, with very little since. Dalnegorsk pyrrhotites are among the largest and finest found anywhere in the world. This fine and rich large example displays well without aid. Ex Bob Reynolds Collection, a well-known fossil and mineral expert and Curator of the San Bernardino County Museum. He passed away in 2020.
