Item Description

A striking and sculptural complexly intergrown small cabinet pyrrhotite crystal cluster from famed Santa Eulalia. The dramatically intergrown, textbook hexagonal terminated crystals have typical bright brassy/bronzy luster, which accentuates the impressive dense layering of the prisms. The frontal display is pristine. Santa Eulalia and Dalnegorsk, Russia have produced the world's finest examples of the species and this is a classic and excellent example from 1985 find in the Main Silicate Orebody of the Potosi Mine at Santa Eulalia. Ex Dr. Peter Megaw Collection, noted Mexico specialist and author of the 2018 Mineralogical Record Special Issue VIII Santa Eulalia. You know this is a good one. Valued at $1200 on one of his past labels for exchange/deaccession.
