Pyroxmangite with Neotocite (rare) (ex Kay Robertson Collection)

The Pyroxmangite specimens from the Morro da Mina Mine are the largest and arguably finest crystallized examples of the species extant. This piece is a fantastic thumbnail featuring a sharp, lustrous, translucent, rich reddish-pink colored partial crystal of Pyroxmangite associated with the rare brownish-black manganese iron magnesium silicate Neotocite. The Pyroxmangite has some well-defined faces, but it is contacted, so it's not a complete crystal. For the color and the rare association of Neotocite, this is a very attractive thumbnail of this classic fine quality material. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#12728).
