Item Description
Pyroxmangite, despite is simple chemistry) is a fairly rare Manganese Silicate which is rarely found in such rich samples as the Sunnyside mine in Colorado. This piece is a beautiful "Emerald Brilliant" cut stone of gorgeous pink Pyroxmangite. It should be noted that the VAST majority of gems from this locality are cut into cabochons, and actual FACETED stones like this are exceptionally hard to find. This piece has a great concentration of color for this mine, and it's truly a great rarity for collectors. For a long time, this material was thought to be Rhodonite, but this is not the case, and from what I've been told, all of the "Rhodonite" from the Sunnyside has been analyzed and is confirmed as being Pyroxmangite. Considering that Pyroxmangite is even rarer than Rhodonite, I think this is a wonderful opportunity to buy a superb sample of this hard to find material from a now defunct San Juan locality. This stone is priced at $204.00 retail.
