Item Description
Pyrostilpnite is the rare monoclinic dimorph of pyrargyrite, a trigonal mineral. It is VERY VERY rare and only seen in this quality on specimens generally over 100 years old from Chile and Germany. The paper arrow points to a 2 mm cluster of wine-red, lamellar crystals set against the sparkly drusy quartz, sulfide and quartz matrix. crystals over 1mm, eye visible, are very hard to obtain. The back of the piece has been sawed. Rare and uncommon, probably old-time ore material from the famous mines at St. Andreasberg. From old Herb Obodda dealer stock. valued $750-1000.
