Item Description

This is the first specimen of Pyrophyllite that we've had to offer from Gaston County, North Carolina. There are two given localities for the species on mindat.org, (Crowders Mountain State Park and Clubb Mountain Kyanite Prospects), but we're not North Carolina mineral experts, so it's difficult to know specifically where the piece was found. This cabinet specimen is filled with pearly crystallized "sprays" of light yellow-green Pyrophyllite sitting on host rock matrix. Pyrophyllite is a member of the Pyrophyllite-Talc Group, but good crystallized display specimens like this are not typically seen on the market.
