Pyrophyllite ex Jack Halpern Collection

Pearlescent and golden, this cabinet-sized specimen features lathes of Pyrophyllite in fireworks-like stellate sprays. The Pyrophyllite rests on a small amount of matrix, and the largest of these sprays is about 3.5 cm across. From the Indian Gultch Mine, these Pyrophyllites are considered to be classic, older California material. Pieces such as this are rarely available today from this obscure and former lode gold mine and it should be considered reallly good for this normally not-so-collectible species - plus, the California location is interesting.
