Item Description
While not a glamorous species one often finds in mineral collections, occasionally, just occasionally, a specimen of quality might come around of this unusual mineral species. It is usually the matrix associated with other things, such as rutile! Here, however, it is a fine specimen of thumbnail size, with multiple clusters of golden-metallic radiating acicular crystals. This comes from the famous Champion Mine, whose full name is actually CHAMPION SPARK PLUG MINE - the source of, you guessed it, rutile for mineral people and spark plug material for spark plug manufacturers!
