Rhodolite is the rare rose-red gem variety of pyrope garnet and is used as a gemstone. A large, sharp, lustrous, dark red to tan, mottled dodecahedron has beautiful sections of gemmy, cherry-red translucence. The Tweedy Mine is a garnet mine and is a collect-for-fee operation (MINDAT). RARE North Carolina garnet in this size and quality.
