Item Description

Pyromorphite from the San Francisco Mine is rare. The San Francisco Mine is renowned for wulfenite and mimetite. This specimen is very important because although pyromorphite was reported historically from the mine, it seems to have been from a small vein in the upper levels and no such specimens have been found in any of the recent explorations here that I am aware of. This fine and very rich specimen is composed solidly of a a multitude of translucent, mustard-yellow to brownish-yellow barrels to about 6 mm attractively clustered on the undulating, sculptural matrix. The pyromorphites and a few scattered wulfenite blades on the back are mostly covered with iron oxide. Excellent, very rich and uncommon material from this famed locale. Ex. Dennis Mullane Collection, who thought this was mimetite! valued $400
