Item Description

An incredibly hard to find OLD classic specimen of Pyromorphite from the Clemenslust Mine. I don't think we've ever had a specimen of this material to offer prior to this piece, and if you collect old European specimens or specifically German classics, you can't afford to miss out on this one. It is nearly a solid group of sharp, well-formed, hexagonal, slightly "hoppered" skeletal crystals of Pyromorphite measuring up to 1.3 cm, some of which show a stark glowing green hue, while others are coated creating a steel-grey color. The two-tone effect is eye-catching, and really distinctive. It appears that the green hue is visible because those particular crystals are contacted, and the coated crystals are actually undamaged. This is a great opportunity to pick up a piece that is virtually impossible to obtain on the market, especially considering the mine dates back to the 1800s. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#2388) with a label from the private collection of Scott Williams and a label from W. Maucher of Munich. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
