Item Description

Mineral specimens from the West Midlands of England are not terribly easy to find, and some of the best known specimens from Shropshire are the beautiful Pyromorphites from the Burgam Mine. This is an attractive full cabinet sized piece that was collected in March of 1978 and features a rich coverage of hundreds of micro, hexagonal prisms of olive-green crystals of Pyromorphite on a thin slab of matrix. The crystals look fantastic up close, and we've photographed them with a Canon MP-E 65 mm macro lens to better illustrate the quality. You almost never see these pieces on the market anymore, especially pieces this size. A lovely specimen for any fan of secondary ore minerals, or English minerals.
The piece comes with a label from the collection of R. S. W. Braithwaite and dated 5 March 1978.
