Item Description

Juicy golden-yellow to greenish yellow pyromorphite barrels to about 2 mm coat the hefty ironstone matrix in interesting parallel-growth on this rich and showy specimen. Pyromorphite coats five sides of the piece. MINDAT does not list an Ivanhoe Mine in New South Wales, but does list an obscure mine with pyromorphite in Northern Territory. More likely this piece is from the famous Broken Hill deposit or possibly from the mines in the Mudgee area of New South Wales. Ex Bob Trimingham Collection and acquired in 1966.
