Luscious and inviting to the eyes, this rich carpet of Pyromorphite is from an ancient lead mining region in Germany and was one of the more beautiful examples in the vasy Germany pyromoprhite suite of this fine collection. Kurt specialized in Germany, above all. Densely packed crystals, in little florets up to about 5 mm across, completely cover the matrix edge-to-edge, as if you are looking down upon a crown of broccoli. The grass-green color is unusually intense, and you can see the light reflecting back up off the lustrous terminations of the hexagonal Pyromorphite crystals. The color, the small and well-formed crystals, and the even distribution give this small-cabinet piece a very good and appealing aesthetic. From the collection of Kurt Hefendehl, a well-known German collector all over Europe with worldwide contacts to dealers and collectors. He started collecting seriously at the age of 14 and his great and varied worldwide collection reached over 6000 pieces. It is very difficult to value such a piece.
