Item Description

A classic and rare specimen of beautiful apple green prismatic Pyromorphite "sprays" from Krandorf (either the Max Mine or the Lead Prospect). As you can see from the close up photos, there are some small but rather sharp and GEMMY thin hexagonal Pyromorphites on the specimen. The thicker crystals are mostly opaque, but the smaller crystals are nearly WATER CLEAR! We used a Canon MP-E 65 mm macro lens to illustrate their beauty. Many of the crystals are sadly not terminated, but they are still worth viewing under the microscope or with a loupe. We've only seen a few of these over the years, and they are certainly worth picking up if you collect secondary ore minerals or German specimens. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#2963). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Velt" November-December 2017).
