Pyromorphite is relatively rare from the famous and now-closed Tsumeb Mine. And seldom do you see specimens with well-developed crystals and in abundance, such as this fine small cabinet piece from the Harvard Collection via exchanges. Lustrous, brown, fan-shaped bundles of acicular pyromorphite prisms to 7 mm are richly and attractively scattered on the vuggy, starkly contrasting, black gossan matrix. A most unusual and interesting (if ugly) Tsumeb rarity. I have not seen another for sale, myself
