Pyromorphite on Quartz (classic locale) Kay Robertson Coll.

Item Description

Rich forest-green pyromorphite, with a striking resemblence to broccoli heads, covers the sculptural quartz matrix crust. This very fine old-timer is from the famous Black Forest area of Germany, likely from the Hofsgrund area. The Kay Robertson and another label with the piece indicate Wolfach (Oberwolfach) in the Black Forest, but famous Clara Mine pyromorphites do not have this rich green color and exotic form. The labels were probably misplaced during the move. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017). She recently passed away in 2020. A classic, excellent, colorful and rich old Black Forest pyromorphite.
