Item Description

A really pretty, really rare, OLD-TIME pyromorphite and quartz specimen from the famous Wheal Alfred of Cornwall...Sparkling, gemmy, greenish-yellow acicular crystals of pyromorphite encrust the sides of numerous, striking, glassy, dipyramidal quartz crystals with interior phantoms. This specimen almost certainly dates to the mid-to-late 1800s, when this mine was famous for some of the most beautiful pyromorphite in the world. An old paper label from this era is glued to the back of the piece. CLASSIC material and SELDOM available in this quality and richness. Ex Jack Halpern Collection. They do not turn up so often on this side of the pond and I admit are not fully appreciated here for the historic rarity, they are.
