Without a doubt, Les Farges is one of the premier localities in the world for Pyromorphite. It's not the type locality for the species, but Les Farges is one of the great classic European localities, producing are some of the most iconic examples of Pyromorphite known. This piece is a great overall display specimen from this classic locality featuring golden-green to olive green colored hexagonal prisms sitting atop oxidized iron-coated white bladed Baryte matrix. You can see that some of the crystals have little yellow "caps" in the close-up photos. Most of the Pyromorphite crystals are undamaged, and look beautiful under magnification. The largest crystal measures 3 mm long. The piece sits wonderfully on its own without the aid of a base or clay, and the intricate three-dimensional form is extremely eye-catching A great piece for anybody who likes Pyromorphite, old classics from Europe or minerals of France. From the collection of noted dealer and collector Richard (Rich) Kosnar of Colorado (1946-2007), who has the namesake for the rare zirconium phosphate mineral, Kosnarite. Rich had a large suite of European classics, and his company Mineral Classics was named specifically for the old European classics that he admired so much.
