Pyromorphite on Baryte

Les Farges is legendary for its distinguished suite of green Pyromorphites. Among these, this particular almost needle-like habit is rare. These are an olive-green color with good luster and there are hundreds of them! Larger, slender crystals (almost needle-like) from 2 mm to 1.2 cm cascade down the middle of the piece and these are flanked by a heavy druse of 1 to 2 mm (sometimes larger) Pyromorphites. The display front of the piece is almost completely covered and mostly intact, although some crystals are damaged around the central main zone. The piece is hefty because the Pyromorphites have crystallized on a coarsely crystalline matrix of flesh-colored Baryte. There is even some finely crystalline and scintillating Baryte and Pyromorphite on the bottom! This is an uncommon, old rare style from Les Farges. Probably from 1960s....
