Pyromorphite (old classic style!)

This is an attractive, elongate cluster of lustrous, rich medium green Pyromorphite crystals to 5 mm in length from this important Pyromorphite locality. Probably collected in the 1960s or early 1970s, this small cabinet piece of this now rare material consists of lustrous, sharp, prismatic, hexagonal crystals that are opaque and have the desired rich apple-green color that makes these Pyromorphites coveted by collectors. Many Les Farges specimens have a hint of brown or yellow in the crystals, and this piece is one of the ideal colors from the locality. This piece is almost entirely Pyromorphite with the backside showing thin shards of matrix almost completely coated by thick microcrystalline Pyromorphite. Minor bruising locally that is barely discernible, but needs to be noted, does detract a little from value if not from showiness. This elegant piece can be oriented both horizontally or vertically for great presentation! Should be valued $1000-ish
