Item Description

A classic, old-time and very showy specimen of arborescent, stacked clusters of highly lustrous, "wet-look", pyromorphite prisms and spindles from the famous Rosenberg Mine at Bad Ems, Germany. Three generations of pyromorphite are visible on this striking, 360-degree specimen. Rich, chocolate-brown crystals at the base grade upward to light brown crystals. The capping and some on the sides, more translucent crystals are butterscotch colored. I particularly like the sprays at the crest and the form of the dramatic, stacked clusters (famous to Bad Ems pyromorphites). For all of the crystal density, the few noted bruising crystals are certainly a modest detraction. Excellent 360-degree material from this famous district. The Rosenberg Mine closed in 1963. Ex Richard Barstow Collection. Valued $1000-1500.
