Item Description
This specimen, at nearly 4 inches, is a great example of the style of green pyromorphite that came out in about 2003-2005 from China. Amidst many habits and pockets, this particular style acquired a nickname as "Les Farges green" because the crystals in habit looked like the classic material from France which had been considered the gold standard for green pyros. In habit, then, they look similar. The luster was also close, a slightly waxy look to it. In color, these are not quite the rich dark apple-green intensity of the best Les Farge material, but come close enough to compare. On this piece, such short, prismatic, lustrous, apple-green, crystals of pyromorphite to, 1 cm in length, grow inward into a protected cavity. No damage except on the periphery of the pocket. The matrix is composed of massive pyromorphite behind it, providing a solid base for display. Valued $3000
