Item Description
A classic, very fine and very rich pyromorphite specimen from this famous mine, closed since 1981. Lustrous reddish-brown prisms with desirable mustard tips are strikingly festooned on the front of the matrix crust of iron oxide-coated barite blades. The dramatic crystal cluster on the corner is 1.5 cm tall. The back is decidedly different! Stellate and radial sprays of much smaller and gemmier crystals attractively cover the back. Very few broken barrels are noted, for such dense coverage. The December, 2009 issue of the French periodical, Le Regne Mineral, is devoted entirely to this noted locale and is filled with photographs of fabulous Les Farges pyromorphites. This would fit right in! A must for any pyromorphite collector! A fine small cabinet. Valued $1500. Classic material from this renowned mine.
