Item Description
This world-class pyromorphite locale produced a dizzying variety of excellent specimens prior to its closing in 1981. This excellent and most unusual specimen is from the Sorbonne Museum and Gary Hansen Pyromorphite Collections. This is a striking, three-tiered, 3-dimensional, 360-degree, pristine pyromorphite specimen. Lustrous, olive-green prisms rest on a thin, iron-oxide crust at the base. A thin crust of pyromorphite is draped over most of the undulating lower level of crystals and in some places, striking caverns and overhangs are formed. Another generation of variably-sized, sharp prisms grew on top of the crust, some in striking, layered, stalactitic forms. Or they formed the impressive postpile of barrels. All of the lustrous, olive-green prisms have the desirable mustard-yellow tips. Every turn presents a totally different perspective to this very fine specimen. value this highly - it is very fine!
