Item Description

A wonderful representative Pyromorphite specimen from the famous Phoenixville area in Pennsylvania. This area is perhaps the most classic and well known lead-zinc producing area in the United States. It is probably best known for its Pyromorphite specimens, and this piece is a good reference specimen of said material. It features hundreds of small bright green to dark green prismatic Pyromorphite crystals which are associated with micro pale orange Wulfenite and yellow-green Mimetite. The specimen was collected by Robert Walker in 1982 and was a gift to noted geologist Allen Heyl (Aheylite) in 1983. The piece later came to Rich Kosnar from Allen Heyl and remained there even after his death. Rich Kosnar's hand-painted specimen number (3370) can be seen on the piece, which matches the catalogue number from Allen Heyl's label that accompanies the specimen. A cool Pyromorphite from this well known area in southeastern Pennsylvania.
