Item Description

Please note that this specimen came labeled as coming from the Little Giant Mine, but it doesn't exactly match other pieces we've seen from this mine in terms of the color of the crystals and the matrix. It very well may be from another locality in the Coeur d'Alene District, of which there are DOZENS. With that said, the piece features small, sharp, lustrous, well-formed, greenish-yellow hexagonal prismatic crystals of Pyromorphite measuring to a few mm sitting on a heavy white rock matrix (possibly massive Cerussite?). An interesting specimen to be sure, and certainly worth picking up if you collect minerals of Idaho or secondary ore minerals. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#11146). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
