The Bunker Hill mine is a famous lead-zinc-silver deposit that produced some of the finest Pyromorphite specimens from the Western Hemisphere. The mine operated for a century (closing forever in 1988), and fine quality specimens such as this one are difficult to obtain on the market, especially some 30 years after it came out of the ground. This piece is a beautiful group of lustrous, tan-orange hexagonal crystals of Pyromorphite on matrix create this beautiful small cabinet sized specimen. Fine luster on the prisms, with a bit of "hoppering" on the terminations to create a loveley "stepped" effect. Great shape all the way around, with only a few blemishes here and there. The largest crystal measures 1.6 cm. Classic material from Idaho, you don't see it around anymore, and the best pieces from Bunker Hill are among the best Pyromorphites in the world. Ex Richard A.
