Item Description

Les Farges is one of the premier localities for Pyromorphite in the history of mineral collecting. This locality has produced some of the strongest green crystals of the species ever seen, which are highly prized by collectors. This thumbnail sized specimen hosts several strong apple green hexagonal prisms of Pyromorphite measuring up to 7 mm with a tiny bit of oxidized matrix. The crystals are all very sharp and lustrous, and despite some contacts here and there, the piece is in decent shape overall. The color is really what matters here, and this piece would make a nice addition to a thumbnail suite or a collect of European classics or just worldwide Pyromorphites. From the collection of the long time, beloved, well-known French field collector, Paul Zerfass (Collection #1496). Zerfass built this worldwide collection over nearly 50 years, many of which were personally collected. A biography featuring specimens from his collection (along with his face on the cover) is in the May - June 2017 issue of French mineral magazine, Le Règne Minéral. We have a .pdf copy of the article for anybody interested in reading it (though it's mostly in French). Just drop us a line and know that you'd like to have a copy.
