Pyromorphite (classic material) (ex Bob Reynolds Collection)

Without question, Les Farges is one of the premier localities in the world for Pyromorphite specimens. This locality has produced some of the strongest green crystals of the species ever seen, and they are not only classics from France, but are world-famous and highly sought after by collectors. This piece is a good representative specimen from this classic locality featuring greenish-brown hexagonal prisms with stark yellow colored terminations sitting atop oxidized Barite matrix. Most of the Pyromorphite crystals are undamaged, but there are a few contacts I can see with the naked eye. I love the beautiful skeletal/"hoppered" form that can be seen on the terminations of most of the crystals. The largest Pyromorphite measures 7 mm long. A great piece for anybody who likes Pyromorphite, old classics from Europe or minerals of France. From the collection of Robert (Bob) Reynolds who passed in August of 2020. Bob was a well-known fossil and mineral expert and former Curator of Earth Sciences at the San Bernardino County Museum in California. The rare phyllomanganate-chromate species Reynoldsite was named in his honor in 2011.
