Item Description

Pyromorphite is a well-known secondary lead species, beloved for its excellent crystal forms and color. Some of the best pieces of Pyromorphite ever found came out of the famed Bunker Hill Mine in Idaho in the late 1970s- early 1980s. These are unquestionably some of the finest Pyromorphite specimens from any locality in the Western Hemisphere. The mine was in operation for a century (closing forever in 1988), and fine quality specimens are difficult to obtain on the market, especially 40+ years after it came out of the ground. This toenail sized piece hosts beautiful, rather lustrous crystal clusters of Pyromorphite measuring up to 4 mm on matrix creating a beautiful display specimen. The upper portion of the crystals is a yellow-green hue, but if you backlight them, you'll see they are orange underneath. Great shape all around, with no major damage that I can find. Classic material from Idaho, you don't see too many around anymore.
