Item Description

The Bunker Hill Mine is a famous lead-zinc-silver deposit in Idaho that produced some of the finest Pyromorphite specimens from the Western Hemisphere. The locality was in operation for a century (closing forever in 1988), and fine quality specimens such as this, are rather difficult to obtain on the market, especially since it was mined about 40 years ago. This sculptural miniature hosts beautiful, brilliantly lustrous, slightly curved, hexagonal crystals of Pyromorphite measuring up to 1.2 cm, free of matrix. The colors grade gently from a slightly greenish-golden to more of a yellow-orange hue. Great shape all the way around, as it's nearly a "floater", with only minor points on attachment that can be seen on the underside. Classic material from Idaho, you don't see it around anymore, and the best pieces from Bunker Hill are among the best Pyromorphites in the world. Valued $2K-$2,500
From the collection of Jason Adams (#45104), and originally from the collection of Kay Robertson (#9500), a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics. She nearly lived 100 years from April 1920 - March 2020.
