Item Description
The famed Bunker Hill Mine in Idaho is an old lead-zinc-silver producer and the source of some of the finest Pyromorphite specimens from any locality in the Western Hemisphere. The mine was in operation for a century (closing forever in 1988), and fine quality specimens such as this one are difficult to obtain on the market, especially 30+ years after it came out of the ground. This miniature sized piece hosts beautiful, brilliantly lustrous, greenish-yellow crystals clusters of Pyromorphite measuring up to 6 mm on matrix creating a beautiful display specimen. Great shape all around, with no major damage that I can find. Classic material from Idaho, you don't see it around anymore, and the best pieces from Bunker Hill are among the best Pyromorphites in the world. Valued at $1,500. From the collection of Robert (Bob) Reynolds. Bob was a well-known fossil and mineral expert and former Curator of Earth Sciences at the San Bernardino County Museum in California. The rare phyllomanganate-chromate species Reynoldsite was named in his honor in 2011.
