Colorful and sculptural small cabinet combination from the famed and extinct Les Farges Mine of France. Beautiful, classic, desirable grass-green pyromorphite prisms are associated with smaller, glassy and lustrous yellow-green pyromorphite microcrystals. The pyromorphites are complemented by contrasting clusters of oxide-tinted baryte blades. The curved vug in massive to drusy quartz really highlights the pyromorphite and bartye. This world-class pyromorphite locale was only open from 1975 to 1981 and is renowned for the wide variety of crystal habits and colors. The December 2009 issue of the French periodical, Le Regne Mineral, is devoted entirely to this noted locale and is filled with photographs of fabulous Les Farges pyromorphites. Ex Tim Sherburn Collection, a long-time collector from San Diego, comes with his label and valued by him at $800.
