Pyromorphite and Cerussite, with Malachite

Now here is a rare and interesting old Australian combination specimen. It has fine, and lustrous, yellow-green Pyromorhite crystals growing in spheroidal aggregates up to 1.5 cm across, and these are combined with tabular Cerussite. There are small sprays of electric-green Malachite to add a nice, colorful accent. Unfortunately, some of the Cerussites were a bit too exposed, and had some cleaving. There is also a hint of some small Cerussites with some twinning, a completely different expression of the lead content in the solution that formed this specimen. Though not glamorous, this is still a fascinating and good combination piece for the well-known Rum Jungle. These were found in 1975 and 1977, and are quite hard to find today on the market. Bob must have purchased shortly after, as it has a 1970s old label from The Collector in Fallbrook. This was recently deaccessed from the extensive collection of Bob Reynolds, who cherished both minerals and fossils as he collected. Bob is a prolific author and has had several curating positions in museums.
