Item Description

High luster accentuates this lovely and sculptural small cabinet of striking oxide-tinted, chocolate-brown clusters of parallel-growth, strongly hoppered pyromorphite crystals from the famed Les Farges Mine of France. The large crystals reach 2.7 cm. The bit of bruising, certainly only a modest detraction, reveals the underlying yellow-green pyromorphite. It adds color and character. This world-class pyromorphite locale was only open from 1975 to 1981 and is renowned for the wide variety of crystal habits and colors. Classic material from the mine. The December 2009 issue of the French periodical, Le Regne Mineral, is devoted entirely to this noted locale and is filled with photographs of fabulous Les Farges pyromorphites.
