Pyromorphite

There are a few localities world wide that produce superb matrix Pyromorphite specimens, and the Daoping Mine is certainly recognized as one of the top localities for the species. I like this particular specimen because it shows good isolation between the crystals, as opposed to intergrown clusters as is more commonly seen in Pyromorphite. The prisms have a lovely light green color with very good luster and sharpness. The largest crystal measures 1.3 cm long. They are sitting atop contrasting orange colored Limonite matrix, creating a striking visual appearance. Most of the crystals are pristine, save a few around the periphery where the specimens was removed from the pocket wall during the collecting process. A very well balanced display specimen of this contemporary classic material. Priced at $1250.
