Pyromorphite

Item Description

A dramatic and large Les Farges Mine combination piece of multiple generations of varying colored Pyromorphite on a contrasting silvery-grey Hematite(?) coating tiny Quartz crystals all on a massive Baryte matrix. The dense uniform coverage of lustrous hexagonal prisms have an almost "terraced" form up the right side. The Pyromorphite color groupings range from dark straw to honey brown many with light green caps, to olive-green, and some pockets of apple green. In the transition from area to area there are mixtures such as the slightly larger sized, up to 4mm, two-toned crystals of honey with apple green caps seen on the upper left. The piece is in great condition with very modest bruising that has minimal impact to the display. An uncommon association with the Hematite (or other metallic?) and Quartz make for an atypical specimen from this famous location in France. Ex Paul Zerfass Collection #141.
