Item Description

A striking, centrally-placed 2.3 cm "bulb" of pyromorphite crystals highlights this large, impressive, sculptural, 360-degree specimen of SOLID crystallized pyromorphite from the famous Les Farges Mine. Rich forest-green dendritic sprays and clusters of acicular to spindle-shaped to hexagonal pyromorphite prisms, to about 6 mm, cover all sides of the very 3-dimensional piece. Some of the hexagonal crystals have classic hoppered terminations. Iron-oxide coatings are noted on the back side. Mass is 1031 grams or 2.3 pounds. Ex Paul Zerfass Collection No. 30. This world-class pyromorphite locale was only open from 1975 to 1981 and is renowned for the wide variety of crystal habits and colors. A remarkable, large, very rich with multiple crystal styles and forms and richly colored green pyromorphite from the noted locale.
