Daoping is legendary for its distinguished suite of green Pyromorphites, which were quite the rage in the early 2000's. This particular needle-like habit, at times somewhat resembling the quills of a porcupine, is quite rare and dates to those early years of China exports. The luster on the Pyromorphites is superb, and the form, as well as the varying shades of green, help create a fantastic aesthetic. The longest of these slender crystals/clusters is about 1.5 cm, and the singular beauty of this habit has made these highly sought-after. As expected, there are a few terminations missing, but the vast majority of the crystals are intact, preserving the great visual appeal of this miniature. As is a common story among classic localities, these sections of the mine are now closed and may never again produce such renowned specimens, of any habit. From the collection of Kurt Hefendehl, a well-known German collector all over Europe with worldwide contacts to dealers and collectors. He started collecting seriously at the age of 14 and his great and varied worldwide collection reached over 6000 pieces.
