Item Description
Pyromorphite from Mount Isa is rarely seen available on the market and this is a very good small cabinet piece from the Hefendehl collection. Hundreds of bright olive-green, stubby, hexagonal Pyromorphite crystals are liberally scattered on the display face of the gossan matrix. The glistening, translucent crystals are from 1.5 to 4 mm in size and they are randomly oriented which scatters any incident light. This piece originates from the Black Star orebody and open cut of the same name from mining in an oxidized zone in the 1950s and 1960s. Rarely do these pieces make it outside of Australia! (note, the attached plastic base was old glue, and was removed after shooting). Probably an older specimen from the 1970s or prior.
