Pyrolusite (superb old classic )

Item Description

Very well-developed crystallization highlights this large, small-cabinet specimen from the ancient Eisenkaute iron mine, which was abandoned in 1930. There are Hundreds (if not thousands) of mm-size needles, as well as a cone-shaped spray 2.7 cm long. The true highlight of this piece, though, is the fantastic radial spray composed of slender Pyrolusite needles up to 2.7 cm. This is exceptional for this mine, and rather similar to the Pyrolusite from the Rossbach Mine, also in Germany. The old label from A. Berger of Vienna says that there is also Polianite (a morphological variety of Pyrolusite) on the specimen, as well - could be mixed, or could be one or the other.
