Pyrolusite specimens are very uncommon from any Brazilian locality and are RARE from this old open pit manganese mine opened in 1894. The large massive Mn-oxide ore specimen hosts two vugs lined with lustrous, black, botryoids: the impressive 11.0 cm vug in the front and the sculptural 5.5 cm vug on the bottom filled with scintillating botryoids. Rare, undoubtably old-time material from the Matioli Collection. Try to find another of this quality, style and size.
